Qatar Permanent Residency for Tech Professionals

Qatar introduced its Permanent Residency Card in 2018, making it one of the few Gulf states offering a path to permanent settlement. Combined with zero personal income tax and one of the highest GDPs per capita in the world, Qatar provides a premium zero-tax alternative to the UAE.

The Eligibility

Qatar grants permanent residency to:

  • Children of Qatari women married to non-Qatari men
  • Individuals who have rendered outstanding service to Qatar (scientists, professionals, athletes)
  • Investors and professionals nominated by relevant government ministries

For tech professionals, nomination typically comes through an employer or through direct application demonstrating exceptional expertise in AI, cybersecurity, fintech, or other strategic sectors aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

  • Personal income tax: 0%
  • Capital gains tax: 0%
  • Withholding tax on personal income: 0%
  • Corporate tax: 10% (on Qatar-sourced income for foreign companies)
  • No VAT (not yet implemented, though planned)
